Allgemeines:
Das SNK Neo Geo gilt allgemein als der Traum aller Videospieler Anfang der 90er Jahre. Die Konsole ist sowohl eine Spielautomaten- Plattform als auch gleichzeitig eine Konsole für Privatanwender und war mit Anfangspreisen von 58.000 Yen bzw. ca. 600 Dollar die bis dato teuerste Heim-Konsole.
Aber nicht nur der Preis der Konsole, vor allem die Preise der Spiele (teils bis zu 400 DM in Deutschland) machten das Neo Geo zu einer Konsole für Personen die über genügend Einkommen verfügten. Dafür bekam man allerdings auch einiges geboten: Das Neo Geo brachte die Spielhalle nach Hause, die Spiele verfügten über für damalige Verhältnisse unglaubliche Grafik wie man sie nur aus der Spielhalle kannte und schlug damalige Heimkonsolen von Sega und Nintendo um Längen. Spielerisch beschränkte sich die Vielfalt meist auf Spiele aus den Genres (2-D)-Action, Beat´em Up, Sport- und Shooterspielen, am bekanntesten dürften die Spielereihen um Metal Slug und King of Fighters gelten.
1994 entscheidet sich SNK auch Konsolen mit CD-Laufwerk zu fertigen, die aufgrund des kostenmäßigen Vorteils preisgünstigere Spiele ermöglichen. Dennoch wird dem Neo Geo auch weiterhin eher ein Sonderstatus zu teil. Die Konsole bleibt eher einem vergleichsweise kleinem Kundenkreis vorbehalten, die Zahl der Fremdhersteller die Spiele für die Konsole entwickeln bleibt recht übersichtlich.
Trotz der eher geringen Absatzzahlen der Konsole kann sich das Neo Geo dank treuer Fangemeinde lange in seiner Ausnahmestellung behaupten und ist auch heute noch der Traum vieler Computer- und Konsolenspieler.

Naja, bei der Anniversary (und Ultimate) sind halt direkt ein Spiel, ein kabelloser Kontrollen und eine Memory Card im Lieferumfang. Das macht die 100,- Euro Aufpreis recht erträglich.
Herrgott, erst ab November voraussichtlich lieferbar. Immerhin eine gute Idee, mir selber was unter den Baum zu legen an Weihnachten. Preislich mit 199 Euro für die Basic-Variante angesichts der Technik doch gar nicht schlecht. Da noch weitere Spieletitel erscheinen sollen, wäre vielleicht Basic plus Spiele nach Wahl cooler.
Ansonsten kriegt man mit Ultimate für 899 Euro die zehn mitgelieferten Spiele schon günstiger als im Einzelkauf, wenn eines 80 Euro kosten soll.
Fantastische Neuigkeit! Wie aus dem Nichts so ein Knaller! Ich bin hochinteressiert und zweige schonmal Geld ab. Man bekommt hier quasi eine ganze Spielhalle nach Hause (bis auf die individuelle Elektromechanik bzw. Hydraulik ). Vom Neo Geo habe ich ja schon immer geträumt. Das war ja vom Start weg unerreichbar und unerschwinglich. Jetzt kann man es nachholen. Saucool!

Ist halt für Sammler, die neu anfangen wollen. Die original AES Module kosten ja teilweise tausende von Euro mittlerweile. Keine Ahnung, was die da jetzt nutzen.
